Where's My Music on Instagram Stories? How to Recover Your Full Library of Songs

We get it – Instagram is ever-changing. Sometimes it seems like it’s becoming a platform that’s hard to keep up with, right?

That darned algorithm, the ways you need to work to stay in front of your audience, not to mention – REELS? Time to get your director chair out and start producing videos!

We know you’re busy. So, when you jump on Instagram stories and click “MUSIC” prepared to add a song you fell in love with on Spotify, and you realize – all your mainstream music options are gone…? You’re probably SMH-ing.

We got you, fam. Simple fix to get your music back:

It’s time to switch from a Business account to a Creator account on Instagram.

If you’re a local business or service provider, and you like the back end of IG for your data, this move might not be for you. Creator accounts are best for online personalities, or influencers, content producers, artists, etc.

Simply put – you’ll have your music back for your options on IG stories as soon as you make the switch.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • To convert, open your Instagram profile and tap on the three-line button in the top-right corner.
  • Then, tap the Settings gear icon at the bottom of the screen.
  • From the Settings menu, select the Account option
  • Tap on the Switch to Creator Account option.

Take some time to explore your new Instagram creator profile and get familiar with the new features, metrics, and insights available.

As always – let us know what other questions you have, and we’ll be here to help!

*Note: In some cases, business accounts will already have access to the full library of songs, so the switch to a creator account isn’t required.
